Julio Rucabado Yong
Co- Director of the San José de Moro Archaeological Program, Rucabado is a Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, MA and PhDC at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. His investigations center on the study of the phenomena of collapse and reorganization of the societies of Jequetepeque during the Transitional Period. Additionally, his area of interest covers coastal-mountain relations in the context of the formation of the Moche state, and iconographic study of the systems of visual representation by the Moche and Recuay.
Currently he is carrying out studies on the appearance of collective mausoleums on the northern coast and on the origin of the Lambayeque style during the Transitional Period. He has published investigations of the links between Moche and Recuay societies, funerary customs in San José de Moro during the Transitional Period, and Lambayeque political organization, and has co-edited the book Arqueología Mochica: Nuevos Enfoques.
